Owned by Carole Blackhurst and her daughter, Paige Clayburn, Buds and Balloons is open now at 690 W. State Street right next to 786-9- V 7 j These people think they know. Maxi-Mar- t. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anything that calls for fresh flowers is in their game. They do ll funerals, weddings, arrangements, birthdays, new babies, romantic occasions, school dances, and anything else you can think of. They will do lovely corsages for all occasions and boutonnieres and will make up special orders or custom items and take special requests. When Carole saw that Paige was really serious about her plan to open a flower shop, Carole got excited, too, and wanted to help. They set up the shop in front of Maxi-Maand they have several parking places north of the shop for customers to use. They will deliver as far away as Spanish Carole said that if they don't have what you want, they will get it for you. They will also have live plants for sale in the near future. Paige has had several years of experience in arranging flowers and puts out quality work, Carole said. She has worked at several different floral establishments and has a knack for the trade. Carole said that Paige found the little shop and bought it and rt Fork. the parents of three children. Carole and her husband, Mike, live in Pleasant Grove and they are the parents of two girls. She works parttime for Utah County and helps out at the new shop. She and Paige are very excited to be involved with the new shop and said they are here to be of service and meet the needs of the live in Orem and are low-inco- December. "Many people get the opportunity to see the excitement of the families as they move into a better housing. Volunteers will be able to serve on the family support, public relations, finance, family selection or building committee during all three stages of the project - planning, construction and follow-u"Each of the committees serves an important part in bringing together the people, the materials and the funding to build each house," said Chuck Irwin, treasurer of Habitat for Humanity of Utah housing environment," Irwin said. An introductory meeting for Habitat for Humanity volunteers will be Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the United Way Volunteer Center at 148 N. 100 West in Provo. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout Utah County. Some of these opportunities are: Work with adolescents involved in parentchild conflicts. The Youth Service Center, a shelter for runaway and homeless youth is looking for volunteers at least 21 years old to teach independent living skills to adolescents. Limited recreational supervision is also needed. The Youth Service Center is p. County. The volunteers work closely with the prospective home owners throughout the building phase as well as after the families have moved into their homes. The neat thing about the organization is that you not only see the houses going up but also the open 24 hours a day. Make Halloween sacks for children. Children at several nonprofit organizations will benefit from volunteers willing to donate decorated lunch bags, small Halloween buckets or boxes filled with individually wrapped candies and toys for the holiday. Help victims of domestic violence. The Center for Women and Children in Crisis is in need of dedicated volunteers to answer crisis H' ie calls and help with general otfice duties at the center. These individuals provide invaluable support for victims of rape and domestic violence. Volunteers are needed to work once a week, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information about vo- lunteer opportunities throughout Utah County, contact United Way 8 from Volunteer Center at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
