Spencer has been named as the new principal at Lehi Junior High School, it was announced by Alpine District officials. He replaces Dr. Virgil Jacobson who has accepted a position in the district office. At present, Spencer is an assis- Sheryl Holbrook ThedaughterofStephenandGail Holbrook, Sheryl is a sophomore at Brigham Young University, where she is studying family science, with an emphasis in child development. In addition to her goal of raising a large family, Sheryl would like to work with troubled teens to help them see their potential. While at Lehi High School, she was a member of the drill team for three years, at one time serving as the group's president and military mistress. She also served as studentbody secretary. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Club, and graduated in 1993 in the top 20 of her class. She was a winner oftheKiwanisClub'sHopeof Am erica Award and was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Sheryl will perform a lyrical jazz dance to "Down On My Knees." A member of Encore show choir, she was chosen to sing solos at Disneyland and Opryland, was twice selected to participate in the Choir, and received superior ratings at solo and ensemble comAll-Sta- summer. Having had training in voice, piano, ballet, tap, jazz and clogging, she will sing "Luck Be a Lady" from "Guys and Dolls" for her talent presentation. A 1994 graduate of Lehi High petitions. She also received the Academic Fitness Award and was listed on the honor roll. She is the daughter of Scott and Merilyn Sperry. the National English Merit Award and was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She was a member of the Academic Decathlon Team, a Tandy Technology Scholar, a commencement speaker, a participant in Girls State and theschool'sSterlingSchol-a- r in science. In her spare time, she likes swimming, all types of skiing, hiking and High School where he has been for the past two years. Before that, he served as an intern principal for a year and taught English in the Alpine District for four years. "The patrons of Lehi will enjoy working with Mr. Spencer," said Gary Keetch, director of Secondary Schools for the district. "He works well with parents and involves the public to a large extent in educational decision making." Spencer also emphasizes attention to theindividual student among his strategies for success: "Paramount on my list of motivators is a genuine concern for students. Believing that one person can make a difference, she said she will feel successful if, through her scientific research, she can preserve life and improve living conditions.
