Spring also means that Easter is just around the corner, and in the case of 1989, Easter is next Sunday, March 26. Shoppers who intend to renew their wardrobe should remember a few tips from Norma Ivins, owner of American Fork's Ivins Stores. "Mint, pink and black and white .are predominant colors for this spring," Norma says. Casual wear Easy Easter treats.. By KALYN SECRETAN Easter comes early this year and when it comes in March, if s here before we know it. Easter is a day of commemorating the resurrection of Jesus : Christ. Church services andspecial music mark the day. But even before the time of Christ, springtime festivals marked the end of winter and the return of new life to the earth. The egg is a symbol of new life and it has become an emblem of Easter. It just wouldn't be Easter without coloring and decorating eggs. Kids look forward to the Easter Bunny, Easter egg hunts, an Easter hike or picnic. Others look forward to a traditional Easter dinner with turkey or ham, a hot dinner with all the trimmings or perhaps a cold dinner with your favorite salads and finger food. There are many ways to decorate an egg, but we prefer to use liquid food coloring. We just use crayons to write names, draw pictures and decorate the eggs. They are dipped in cup ofboiling water with a teaspoon of vinegar added and 20 drops of food coloring. Cool slightly. Colors can be mixed after making the yellow or green eggs to color the blue, and red and blue to make a purple. Cupcakes are always fun to top with tinted coconut and jelly bean eggs. The coconut can be colored by placing it in a bottle with a teaspoon or two of water and several drops of green coloring. Shake the bottle to distribute the color. Cotton is cool for the summer months.' Norma emphasises that skirts are longer again. "Mini's are gone. Skirts should be just above the knee or long. Baally, any length is okay whatever you feel good in." There are lots of suits, available in spring colors. "Suits are still good, and draases are alwaya in style, but there is mora sportswear available at market than anything else. Coordinating skirts and sweaters are popular too," Norma says. The important fleece garments so popular the past year are too warm for the coming spring and summer months, and they're giving way to cotton blends in casual styles that women love to wear. , for your Anyway, whan you shop new spring outfit, think about comfort as wall aa the pastel and floral fashions that are reminiscent of the Victorian era whan romance set the stage for the fashion industries naweat creations. always-popul- ar food coloring grated dipping chocolate (about 112 lbs.) 1 hard cooked egg Flour to fill 2 dripper pans and a square pan 8x8x2.
