And only with faith can you hit silver dollars in the air." Port strapped on a holster and began carrying his pistol everywhere he went. He dry fired at everything that moved, and hundreds of objects that remained still. He tried his hardest to imagine hitting the target every time. At the same time he continued shooting hundreds of white balls into the black dirt. Though Sylvester wouldn't let him set up specific targets, Port got so he knew exactly where the white ball was going to strike the black dirt. After about a week Sylvester introduced Port to targets. The first day it was a large basket, which was not only easy to hit on the ground, but also when Sylvester heaved it into the air. The next day Sylvester used a smaller basket. Again, Port had no trouble hitting it. After several more day, Sylvester was throwing chunks of wood about he size of large apples into the air and Port was hitting them every time. Between shooting sessions he continued dry firing at everything in sight.
