Three favorites involve holding one's breath for as long as possible, taking several small sips of water without taking a breath, and breathing into a paper bag. Some people believe that "scaring" the hiccup victim relieves hiccups. Research has not proven any of these methods to be superior to another. In the early 1970's a researcher determined that 19 out of 20 hiccup sufferers obtained relief by swallowing one teaspoonful of dry, granulated sugar. Several prescription medicines have been used to end hiccups. A recent report in the "New England Journal of Medicine" describes the treatment of a had exboy who hiccups for ap- proximately one year. Although a variety of techniques and medicines had been used, hic cups continued. Giving the boy the antidepressant medicine amitriptyline produced almost instant relief. Don't miss it! The theme will be new Spring trends. Learn how to adapt them to better serve your clientele with new techniques. Here's a sample of what some of the important trendsetters are saying about Spring. Alain Pinen - "I see much longer hair, straighter lines or strong curl with detail around the face for balance. The overall look is quite sexy." Kevin Maneuso - "This spring is mixed with straight blunt lines and textured fringe around the face. Hair is longer with some excitement for the face. It's vital that hair be in great condition when using professional products such as emulsifiers or other hair styling aids." Alex Dayle makes a statement for men - "Spring is masculine with basic lines. Pony tails are gone. The new lengths is jaw level or ultra short. Dark colors are used to emphasize thick, rich textured hair with a shine as shiny as a patent leather shoe." Jan Rumera favors cropped hair with chunky, squared off bangs reminiscent of the 50's. "Hair can be tousled and airy, capturing light with shine." T Swim Suit Coverup life at TANGLES Am.
