Show Free Press - Tuesday, December 31, 1985 - Page 3 Police seek clues Uvida announces 3,700 new jobs on Lehi burglary An armed robbery at the Cash Saver, 208 West State, Lehi, is being investigated by Lehi police detectives. When police were called to the convenience store at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, they found the clerk tied up and an undisclosed amount of money gone. Ray Edwards responded to the call from the clerk, Bruce Emal, 28, and Det. Dennis Estes is continuing the investigation. Emal told the officers that a man and woman entered the store Saturday evening, tied him up, and escaped with the cash. The man, according to the clerk, was brandishing a large caliber automatic weapon. A customer entered the store following the burglary, untied the clerk, and the police were notified. Detective Estes said that armed robberies are up about 400 percent from last year. There have been more armed robberies in the past year than during his entire tenure on the Lehi Police Force, according to veteran policeman, Ray Edwards. December was a busy month for the police department according to Chief Bill Gibbs. He reported that there had been two theft reports and a hit and run accident complaint. Other reports include a public intoxication charge, an attempted burglary, a case of shoplighting and an intoxication charge. Complaints also include vandalism, auto burglary and two burglary reports. A car window was shot out, and there were reports of a missing person and a runaway. Police are also investigating a stolen car complaint and several fender benders. There was also a case of an obscene phone call. The stolen car complaint involved a citizen whose car broke down on the exit of across from Lehi Tractor on East Main Street. The owner of the car decided to leave the vehicle and go for help. Marvin Iligbee, UVIDA president, said more and more "high-tech- " industries are now gravitating to the area, and heavier industries are becoming harder to attract.
