The Gerald Christiansen family uses the library for their Family Home Evening. The Christiansens have six children and expect a new baby "last week." Gerald (Gary) besides being scoutmaster, was just sustained as second counselor in the Third Ward bishopric. Rosemary, in addition to her role as a busy wife and mother, is also the area chairman of the Republican Party. Her goal is to encourage people to get out and vote. Gary was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, and met Rosemary on a blind date while attending BYU. His degree is in history, while Rosemary has a Masters Degree in speech and drama. About a year ago, their television broke down and the Christiansens wondered if they could live without it. They could. The children discovered a world of books and also learned to amuse themselves by creating their own games. The Christiansen basement is full of books. Bookshelves were built in the den, but there were so many books that they ended up being stored in the basement. Gary kept all his books through school and haunts garage sales buying more. "I have my own philosophy about saving books. If ever there should be a disaster aiyftjmalpwith my family, then I would want them to have knowledge, to be able to read and to learn," Gary stated emphatically. 975 dbl. occ.
