A third requirement this year is a certificate providing evidence that a child's eyes have been checked for amblyopia and other visual defects. This certificate will be required before the child enters school, but not for registration. The Utah County Health Department is scheduling vision screening clinics to check for amblyopia May and Alpine 29 in the Forbes Elementary for local children. While county health officials say the clinic is specifically for children to four years old, older children will be screened at that time. Parents who have questions about any of the legal requirements can contact their local elementary principal. Dr. Cecil Hansen, Administrator of Elementary Schools for the Alpine School District, also urges parents to dental and health have examinations for their children before school starts in the fall. Plans will be finalized for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt to be held April 21 at Vets Park.
