Scott Rowley, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Rowley won second place, and Two Melanie Hansen, daughter of Merrill earned honorable mention in the contest which judged entries of elementary students from throughout Utah on the topic, "What I Learned at the Fair." The essays were submitted in October after fourth graders from Forbes and other schools took a field trip to the fair; but the judging has just now been completed. Scott and Melanie were part of what has been an English project during each of the past seven years for students in Geraldine Hunter's fourth grade class. Mrs. Hunter produced a winner in the top five every year; in 1978 her students garnered four out of the five top places. This year, 20 writers from her class submitted entries. Scott's entry was judged good enough to receive a red ribbon and the second place cash award of $9. "Both Scott and Melanie are fine students," said Mrs. Hunter. Hansen Governor.
