A large silk ribbon was bowed at its waist showed her overwhelming delight in this little miniature. Daddy must have been impressed as he went back in to check out some details and Roy Smith, our druggist, and Daddy were seen checking the price tag. As we walked back to the car with pink noses, pink not only from the cold, but also from pressing the glass of the store window, we heard Daddy say dolls were sure expensive that year, and that particular doll was the most expensive doll he had ever priced. Well, you can imagine, I thought that was the end of that doll story. to hold the doll steady in the box. To the right and left of the doll was the most beautiful layette a baby could ever have. I still remember the tiny bar of soap and miniature wash cloth. A baby bunting was stapled to the cardboard backing as was everything - every single article of baby clothing. We could only look as the cellaphane covering kept us a distance apart. this point I had decided that not only were Mama and Mrs. Santa dear friends but somewhere in that friendship circle Daddy was also included; and of course knowing that Daddy "knew" everyone in town because most of them were his patients - it wasn't an impossibility that he also knew the whereabouts of the North Pole in his travels and the friendship to the Clauses. Between Daddy and Mrs. Santa the word must have traveled just how much Mama liked that doll and being the dear friends they were - Mama got the At Mama had remained silent, but at this down her moment tears were half-wa- y big smile was on her lips and her eyes sparkled through the tears. And, each year, along with her older sisters, she beheld the ritual of bringing the doll down from the shelf. Jean and I shared this ritual for many years, but little sister, Truma's years were shortened. It was in 1960 that the sharing stopped as Mama and Daddy both passed away the previous fall. The loving, gentle hands of Mama were not there to take the doll from the shelf, and so the doll remained at the top of the closet waiting for the little girl to grow up to have a home and family of her own. The placement of the doll was never a problem. It was just natural that the doll should go to the home of the youngest child. Now, the doll has a place of honor where all little girl cousins can play and see the doll that Santa brought to Lehi 1980 "The political campaign has ended, but the political process is ongoing," said Dale Lambert, chairman of the Utah State Democratic Party.
