Show 4 - FER'HLE TIMES - MAY 1993 Castle Valley Hot Air Ballooning Here’s a quick update on the Castle Valley status of the proposed commercial hot Notice of Public Meeting air balloon trips in the Castle Valley area. The public comment period on the BLM draft EA (environmental assessment) for Wild West Balloon Notice is hereby given that Castle Valley Town will hold tours in the Castle Valley/Fisher Valley area ended Saturday, May 8. BLM area manager Brad Palmer stated a public hearing on Monday, May 10, that BLM would be preparing the final EA during the on June 2, 1993 coming week. Wild West Balloon Company had requested BLM approve a five-year permit allowing the company to conduct commercial hot air balloon tours in the Fisher/Professor/Castle Valley areas during the first three hours after sunrise from April 1 through November 1 of each year. at the Castle Valley Fire House at 7:15 p.m., to consider the 1993-94 fiscal year Town Budget. The public is invited to comment. Brad mentioned that because of significant concerns raised by some Castle Valley residents, the area for the proposed balloon flights might be limited to the Fisher and Professor New UP&L Valley areas. with the Castle Valley area excluded entirely. Line Extensron POIICY Brad said that comments from Castle Valley residents represented a new policy governing extensions of electrical service. This will be of interest primarily to people building new houses and installing new electri- many different views and concerns, ranging all the way from opposition to support for the ballooning, with (aCcording to Brad) some residents even asking if they could make money by charging the balloon company to use their property for take-offs and landings. There is not likely to be any public notice of the final decision before this issue of the CV Times is printed. Utah Power and Light has adopted cal service. There are two significant changes from the old policy. First, UP&L will UP&L will no longer make arrangements for extended payments for charges above the maximum distances listed above. Charges for extensions, beyond the limits set above, must be paid by the customer at the time of installation. The five year guaranteed monthly billing option has been install up to 300' of primary extension, and 100' of secondary service with only a $100 charge. The customer must provide the trenching.
