You Better Believe It 3J' I went home Friday afternoon with a stomach ache and an hour and a half later later found myself in Oakland, California! Yes. My family had made reservations for me on a Western flight to California and I just about loused up their plans by getting home for lunch a bit late. I'd only intended to rest a bit and see if the ache would go away. Golly, I had just the clothes on my back and my purse! But there was D chomping on the bit to get me to the airport so I wouldn't be late for my flight that I didn't even know I had! But gee was it fun. My little grandson was playing for the Northern California Soccer Championship and I got to see him! And, they won. It was a joy to be there for the weekend. California is just beautiful. The hills and valleys are so green you can't quite belive it and the wildflowers everywhere! The weather was super too. Thanks, family, I love ya so much. Both there and here. Wotta Weekend Those fortunate folk who meandered Saturday to Richfield last were amply rewarded when Lehi's gymnasts reaped state honors. I'd like to pat a few noble souls on the back for going above and beyond average parental duties in regards to supporting their children. Shirley Haws and Viona Kunz should get medals along with their talented daughters. I attended a meet at Timpview where these two moms along with John Haws were recruited to keep score. Scoring is complicated and painstaking but they did it with a smile! Then at the Region Six Meet, they spent 12 hours at the meet, furnishing cookies, snacks, along with moral support for the team. Each of Lehi's troupe made the grand entry march in state competition carrying a white rose festooned with royal purple ribbons. Sure, you guessed it. He is an official All American wrestler. Gary is one of very few collegians who excell in two sports. Gary was first string tackle on the BYU football team. He will be waiting for the pro draft May 4 and 5 to see who will buy the priviledge of having "Big Pete" on their team. Good Luck Gary. We're very proud of you. Another BYU wrestler is LaMar Boyer, former Lehi High great. You're gonna hear more from him too! Debaters Too And last, but certainly not least, the Lehi High Debate team went to BYU last Thursday and Friday and walked away with the State Forensic trophy. Two of our debate teams took first and Curtis Robinson won first in oratory. Others did well too. Jean Harris is their coach and should get a big smooch from her students. Susan Bates, 'I "5, ?
