Show Mary B. Anderson to Observe 80th Birthday December 30 Mary Berry Anderson will celebrate her 80th birthday on December 31st and in honor of the occasion she will be feted at an open house to be held Thursday. December 30, at the Cedar Valley Ward Chapel. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the lovely affair which will begin at seven p.m. The family requests no gifts, please. Mrs. Anderson was the oldest daughter of Lysander and Fannie Neat Berry of Cedar Fort. She showed special interest in music from age three years. She practiced on the family organ (pumped with her feet) and sang with her father evenings, while she played the organ. She received lessons from Caroline Cook, then progressed through practice and experience. V &8 0 fy to for the Christmas season. With Vera Trane wielding the baton, this group of 15 talented ladies sings a repe-toiof at least a dozen Christmas songs, all by memory. Included are new songs like "Christmas Is" and "We Wish You the Merriest," as well as the old favorites, "Sleigh Ride" and "Winter Wonde- Highlights of their 1976 season was a Bicentennial tribute to the USA which they presented during the year. Their costumes included red dresses with brilliant red, white and blue jackets. Adding to their costumes was the addition of another jacket made from beautiful red chiffon embroidered with gold threaded flowers. Gold chains completed this attractive Christmas outfit. Besides serving as ward organist under ten bishops, Mary has played for all auxiliary organizations, continuing as the ward Relief Society organist. She has also taught classes in the various organizations and has served on the Stake Relief Society Board. Besides the many hours spent in church activities as well as playing for funerals and all types of programs and family occasions, Mrs. Anderson has given music lessons. Her many talents include needlework. It is a family practice that she presents a handmade quilt to each of her grandchildren at their high school graduation. Her four daughters will help hostess the open house to hon-o- r FOE YOUJ.
