Some 400 performers are required for the summer season. Young people, both members of the L.D.S. and Church of the Lehi area are urg ed to try out, Dr. Engar said. The books and lyrics of "Pro mised Valley" were written by Broadway playwrite Arnold Sundgaard. The musical story of the Mor mon trek west in 1847, "Promised Valley will be presented nightly, except Sundays, through July and August in the beautiful outdoor Temple View Theater on Main Street across from the Salt Lake Temple. This will be the fifth consecutive year and some 130,000 persons are ex pected for the 53 performances. So far well over half a mil lion persons have viewed the show. The production, sponsored by the Mutual Improvement Asso ciations, has been hailed as one of Utah' s foremost tourist attractions. W. J. Eldridge and Mrs. Florence S. Jacobsen, MIA chief executives, praised the hundreds of talented persons who have do nated their time to the production. Rehearsals start in early June and participants commit themselves to all of the rehearsals and at least half of the performances. Retires From D. Orlo Brems New Foreman At Geneva Steel D. Orlo Brems of Lehi has been appointed foreman- - tool and blacksmith shop at Geneva Works it was announced by M.E. Strate division superintendent - main tenance and utilities. Mr. Brems' service in the Maintenance and Utilities Division dates back to 1949. After filling various positions, he was promoted in 1954 to machinist, the position held prior to this appointment. Bell Telephony Lehi Dance Set Franklin D. Sawyer, assistant vice president of Mountain Bell has retired after forty-fi- ve years service with the telephone com pany in Utah. Sawyer started working for Mountain Bell in 1926 as a clerk in Ogden. He served as manager of the American Fork exchange from 1930 to 193L In 1945, he was named Utah commercial supervisor in Salt Lake City, and In 1949 was named Utah commercial manager. He was appointed assistant vice president In 1958 and became a member and secretary of the Utah Advisory Board of Mountain Bell the same year. Active In civic affairs, he Is presently serving on the Insti tutional Council of the Utah Tech' nical College and is chairman of Section Six, the Boy Scouts of America, serving Utah, Arizona and southern Nevada.
