Phone AF The Lehi Wildlife - Association sponsored a poster contest for fifth and sixth grade students of both the Lehi Elementary and Sego Lily Elementary Schools last week. The theme of these posters was Wildlife Conservation, and cash prizes were given for the best five posters. E. J. Sly, president of the Wildlife Association, has announced the winners :( Varlene Curtis, Lehi Elementary, School, was given $5 for her poster showing three ducks to indicate conservation of game birds. Keith Norman and Kenneth Bushman, Sego Lily School, combined their talents and received $3 for second prize; Mary Jean Price, Sego Lily, $2, third prize; Jay Trinnaman, Sego Lily, and Mary Lee Hadfield, Lehi Elementary, each received $1 for their entries. These posters will be displayed throughout the month of May in the windows of Hutchs' Trading Post, Watties' Youth Center, and Lehi prug. Mr. Sly states that this contest is a statewide affair and is the first of its kind. The local Wildlife Association has undertaken, many projects throughout each year. One of these is to plant fish in the Dry Creek pond, and just recently they planted , 1,000 fishs in the pond. Another project that will begin this fall and extend into the win ter will be to teach young people the proper way to handle firearms before they can receive hunting licenses.
