He suffered a skull fracture, com pound fractures of both legs and internal injuries. Driver of Auto Driver of the automobile, listed by highway patrol troopers as Royce Floyd Dalton, 26. gave his address as Monroe, Sevier county. He is listed in the Salt Lake City directory at 674 E. 9th South. He was reported in "good" condition at Lehi hospital, where he was treated for lacerations above both eyes and on the left elbow. The mishap occurred at a spot In Utah county where the highway widens into divided lanes. The auto collided with the left rear of a flat bed southbound trailer which had been driven off the road while the driver repaired a flat tire. Edgar E. 43, Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete county, suffered minor face lacerations when his glasses broke as he was knocked to the ground by the impact. Children Not Hurt' He and two of his sons, Allen, 5, and Robert Lasson, 10, were standing at the right of their vehicle, a half-to- n pickup truck pulling a trailer on which was mounted a tractor. Neither of the children was injured. Mr. Lasson told highway Troopers N. S. Evans and M. W. Grant he had pulled the bulky vehicle to the roadshide and was repairing a tire when the southbound auto crashed into the rear of the trailer. Wrapped Around Base The right door panel and heater from the car Mr. Dalton was driving were torn from the car and wrapped around the base of the trailer so tightly that wrecker crewmen had to pry them away with crowbars. Mr. Potkins was sitting in the right front seat of the 1941 model sedan which troopers listed as a "total wreck." Damage to the trailer was negligible. Las-so- n, Harriman. President, said in a radio address last night that the, organization has a much bigger job to do than was anticipated when it set its 1931 goal at 85 million dollars. He emphasized the Red Cross cannot continue its varied and vital functions on the present scale without the FULL assistance of every American and added that "only the best job the Red Cross can do will suffice in this time of national emergency." He pointed to developments in Korea and to plans for a military force of 3.500,000 as reasons for increased Red Cross Services. "We have no assurance when the fighting in Korea will be ended." he said, "A military force of three and a half million has been authorized for the coming year and an increase to 4,000,000 is already under consideration." He explained the Red Cross in had fixing its budget for 1951-5planned to serve 2,500,000 men. He also listed these four major jobs the Red Cross has accepted at the request of the government: 1. To train millions of Americans in First Aid. 2. To train at least a million women in Home Nursing during the coming year. 3. To recruit and train several hundred thousand Nurses Aides. 4. To coordinate the facilities of the nation and to stockpile plasma and their derivatives. "We cannot gamble that these four essential elements in civil defense will never be needed. We cannot argue that they may be needed but at some future date. Aggressors do not oblige their targets with timetables," he continued" so the time to prepare is 2 blood-collecti- now". flfl Poultry Contest Mnr than 100 prospective young poultry producers, both boys and girls, in various sections of the state, are participating in in"Junior Broiler project augurated by the Utah Poultry anrf Farmers Oviiyerative in con junction with the Chicken-of-Tomorrow Contest.
