The following suggestions were received by the Presiding Bish opric's office: Every ward and branch of the Latter-da- y Saint Church, where we own property, is asked to take part this year in a clean-u- p and beautificalion program. The plan to beautify will in clude all chapels, buildings. grounds, or any vacant property the Church may own. In the care and maintenance of our Church buildings and sur- roudings the ward bishops and branch presidents have a very definite responsibility. They are the stewards of Church property. Encouragement will be given to all members to beautify their homes and surroundings. A pro gram of this is not a new idea with our Church. Our pioneers one hundred years ago enthe members then to couraged beautify and make their homes a good place in which to live. Brigham Young said: "Study order and cleanliness. Adorn your city and neighborhood. Make your home lovely. Make it neat, nice and clean. Set out flowers around the doors." A letter has been sent out by the Presiding Bishopric suggest ing that the Building Supervisor in each stake presidency, will have charge and direct the cam paign in his respective stake. The Building Supervisor wi work with the Bishopric and their helper in each ward. Ward Bishoprics and Branch Presidencies will organize and call to their aid the local priest hood and auxiliary groups, and individuals, when necessary, to help put over the program. The objective of this campaign will be to have clean places in which to worship, more beautiful surroundings, and to make our homes better places in which to .TcJngress March 3,1879 rTTT"" Publisher Innes, hinhte Press Assn- clicrriDtion UH"- - J nr I -- - $2.00 ar (in advance) AM tn be himself to his country, T ViilH ,.r . tVlf ITlfK still teacn " T Xnt of human relationships and that the rJIrfchiP C einous of human crimes is tVi-- t I - . .... a friend teach him I beflfav a e&Ll generosity mau know of happiness ipecial kind of giving to others . Regular inspections should be made of all Church property. Remove anything that might cause a spontaneous combustion. Fires do not happen unless there is a reason for them. Avoid all fires by preventing or removing their cause. To put over this program of beautification and not ask for funds from Church headquarters will be the challenge to all bishops and quorum leaders. It is not always a question of money to clean up and beautify our chapels and grounds, but a real desire that it should be done, and we usually find a way to do it. Every member should be given something to do, and he will take pride in the responsibility given him. ,,. jj tapping.
