The tournament officially opened the 1990 cross country season. Senior Kim Csizmazia started the season by placing first place in the 5K classical and 10K freestyle races. The three-yea- r All American's d performance helped the Utes second team engineer place Lady finishes in each race. Csizmazia is still recovering from foot problems that have plagued her short-hande- since the 1988 season. "It's much better, but still not 100 percent," Csizmazia revealed. "It felt really good. It's definitely an advantage to race at home in Utah," the Idaho native stated. Mark Gray, a junior who is skiing for the first time for Utah, led the Utes with a second place finish in Saturday's 10K classical race, just five tenths of a second behind Colorado's Perjakobsen. In Sunday's 15K freestyle contest, the results were even closer. In a photo finish, Gray edged out New CARN1TAS Wyoming, 86 and Western State College. 13.
