The Utes won Friday 139-7- 6, and then won again Saturday, 139-5- 2. Senior Dennis Tesch broke the school record in the 1,650-yar- d freestyle Saturday, with a 15:31.38. Junior Shawn Rowland turned in the fastest 400 intermediate time in the WAC this year with a 4.00.24. On Friday, Tesch won the 500- - and 1,000-yar- d freestyle events. . . .Utah golfer Blair Philip finished seventh at the John A. Burns Invitational in Hawaii. Philip carded rounds of le for an even-p210 in the event, which ended Friday. The Utes finished in 1 5th place out of 24 teams during the three-da- y tournament. Steve Secgmiller w as second for the U. with a 224. Devtn Dehlin finished at 228, followed by Eric Nielsen (232) and Mark Romney (235). . . .the Utah men's track team captured five of the six field events at the Utah State Invitational on Saturday in Logan against Utah State and Weber State. Utah's Jeff Smith won the pole vault with a jump of et and Craig Kimber took the high jump with a leap of Utah's Eric Wheelwright also jumped but Kimber won as Wheelwright had more misses. Gerald Johnson won the long jump and had the fastest time in the dash, but w as disqualified for jumping the gun. Jeff "Tiny" McMillian w on the shot put with a toss while Collin Davis took the triple jump crown of with a leap of ...the Lady Ute tennis team lost to the Lady Rebels from UNLV 4 on Friday at the Salt Lake Tennis Club. Utah collected victories in three singles matches and one double match. The Lady Rebels won two matches No. 6 singles and No. 3 doublesby default. At last year's championships, Utah finished sixth out of six teams with six swimmers and two divers.' ...the Utah ski racing club collected three (1. Powder Mountain. The men's team won both the slalom and the giant slalom, beating BYU and Weber State. Club founder and coach Roy Moyer won both races. Greg McRoberts placed second in the giant slalom and Jeff Smead finished 11th. In the slalom, McRoberts finished fourth, Brian Robinson placed fifth, Andrew Lovegrove was sixth and Smead turned in a 15th-plaperformance. In the women's giant slalom, Jenny Greer led a team finish. Kathleen Smith placed victory with a first-plafourth, Tammy Jacques was 10th and Krista Kelly was 1 3th. Utah placed third in the team standings of the the slalom, behind BVU and Utah Tech-OreSmith was Utah's top finisher.
