'Stories' play at Babcock children's drama program at the University. for this production are Suzanne Ivo McKenna, Ray Peterson, Barbara Smith by Camille Neddo Chronicle staff Co-direct- ors Music, dance and dialogue combine to color the youth production "Stories by die Young" playing this week at Babcock Theatre. The production is the product of a four week intensive program in theatre by 40 talented performers ages 10 through 17. "Stories by the Young" is a collection of original stories written and performed by young authors and actors between the ages of 5 and 13. The innovative Theatre School for Youth has created opportunities for children in acting, and Richard Kirschner. Other instructors working with' the youth include: Michele Kempner, lighting and costume design; Jeffrey Price, musical composition and direction; Kerry Shimizu, choreographer; Pauline Mendes, assistant musical director; and Michael Kempner, makeup artist. Two of the 15 stories in the production are "The Vacuum Cleaner" and "The Bubble of Keith Elison wrote "The Time." Bubble of Time," Performances begin each evening at 7:30, with Saturday matinees at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. "Stories by the Young" will run through July 2.
