Combined with an existing S26.6 million deficit and an inflated 1984 budget, legislative funding will be tight. "The flood problems make it difficult to direct money to the University, and the Legislature's decision last week could make the situation a grim one for us," said Bruce Jensen, director of Facilities Planning and Con- struction. The University administration has prepared and submitted priorities for the 1984-8- 5 Capital Facilities Request, to be reviewed by the Utah Board of Regents, the State Building Board and the Legislature. Throughout the approval process, the capital request will compete with other state institutions and agencies. This competition is heightened by the need for funds to resolve the recent flooding problems. Priority projects outlined in the request include replacement of the electrical system south of the University Medical Center and culinary water systems in the biology and chemistry buildings.
