Show ummer intramurals program provides diversity, relaxation The University Intramural Program is offering students faculty and staff the chance to socialize and compete in a relaxed atmosphere this summer. June 28 is the entry deadline for softball, racquetball,basketball, squash, tennis, singles and doubles, handball and volleyball. One of the most popular summer activities is softball. Each team must have seven players to begin a contest Every team is required to have two women in the lineup at all times. No restrictions are placed on the batting order or field placement. All substitutions must be of the same sex. Other exciting events planned for this summer include the Night Owl Run, the Early Bird Run, and the summer golf tournament. The Night Owl Run is a 6.5 mile run through the campus. The race will take place on July 19 at 7 p.m. The four categories are men under 35, women under 35, men over 35, and women over 35. The entry fee is $3 and this includes an solation tournament. Players must contact their opponents and complete each round of the tourney by an assigned date. If the match is not completed by the deadline, a double forfeit will occur. The entry fee is $1. An intramural championship rt will be awarded to the winners of each age group. So whatever your interests may be this summer, the intramural office has scheduled an activity for you. The age categories will be the same as the Night Owl Run and the same prizes will be awarded. The. intramural golf tournament will be held on July 26 and 27. The tourney is open to both men and women and all rounds will be played on the University Golf Course. Competition promises to be tough and participants will be hard pressed to better Mike Jones'intramural record of 66. Entry fee is $1 and a championship shirt wilf be awarded to the winners of both divisions. In an attempt to build up intramurals, promotional shirts will be awarded to all participants in the Early Bird and Night Owl Runs.
