Mr. Stumph claims that the Society never believes the end to be justification for the use of any means; that the actions and programs mapped out for its members are based on the Christian moral code. He says members of the Society who belong to the L.D.S. church see fulfillment of the prophecy made by Joseph Smith that one day "The Constitution of the United States would hang by a thread," as coming to pass at the present time. Mr. Stumph believes that members of the church can best carry out their church responsibility of defending the Constitution by joining the John Birch Society and participating in its positive action programs.
