Show The Food Stamps Grow in Utah The Federal government's food stamp program, which supplements the food purchasing ability of needy families, went into operation in two more Utah counties Wednesday, according to information received in the office of Senator Frank E. Moss An aide to the Utah Democrat reported that Cache and Rich counties in northern Utah today began participating in the ). program. The food stamp program provides a subsidy arrangement for needy families which do not have sufficient income to proof vide minimum amounts food supplies. For example: A family of five persons, with a monthly net in9 would have come of available approximately $60 for purchase of food supplies. Under the food stamp program, this family will take their $60 to a cooperating agency and in return get $60 worth of food stamps, plus a bonus of $36 worth of food stamps. Thus, the family's food purchasing power is $96 monthly, which will provide minimum food needs. Sen.
