Roadside counts made during this summer indicate generally decreased pheasant production during 1977 as compared to both 1976 production and the long-teraverage. The decreased production, however, was apparently compensated for by increased breeding populations as the resulting density of pheasants is similar to the 1976 figures over most of the state. Utah pheasant hunters can expect hunter, success to be. similar to last year. Last year's results were below the e average but were higher than during the previous two years of hunting. The greatest hunter success is expected to occur in the northeastern segment of the long-rang- state. QUAIL Brood counts indicate that populations of quail are large enough in most areas of the state to maintain a population level similar to 1976. Populations appear to Bowling Mews be slightly lower in the it. . 514. .Hlfh Game Scratch Rocket Apt.
