Bourne of West Fielding attended the Golden Spike Alumni dinner at USU in Logan. They enjoyed a program and heard Merlin Olsen and x President Glen Taggert speak. After they enjoyed the game between USU and Arizona State. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jones of Malad, Idaho visited Mr. and Mrs. Odean Estep Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Hess, Mrs. Margerette Brunei- and her daughter and six grandchildren all of Tremonton, visited Mrs. Henry Starr and John Sunday. Miss Natalie Thorpe, daughter ol Mr. and Mrs. Tim Thorpe of Honey ville, spent ihtnvcokend wfth her grandparents. Mr, and Mrs. Vernon Lamb at Plymouth while the Thorpes spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wakely and family at Bancroft, Idaho. Mrs. Rosie Lamb spent Thursday at St. John visiting her mother, Mrs. Ferrel Williams. Sunday dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs. James B. Kstep were Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hoskins, Malad and Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hoskins ol Portage. The occasion was Ezra Hoskins' birthday USU spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Secrist. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Butler and family of Garland joined them Sunday for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Nish and Mrs. Ruth Stokes have visited Gene Godfrey at the Logan Hospital where he is receiving medical attention. Gene is the son of Bishop and Mrs. Udell (Deanna) Godfrey of Clarkston. Sunday, Mrs. Nina Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Owen and children, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grill at Og-de- Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Dee Williams Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Greg Williams and family of Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Williams of Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whiting visiting Mrs. Judy Whiting at the McKay-De- e Hospital in Ogden, where she and her husband. Jay, had a lovely 10 pound 5 ounce baby girl on ' March 2. Jay and Judy live in Tremonton and the Whitings also visited them Sunday. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whiting of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sandall of Tremonton and great grandmother Mrs. Alice Robbins also of Tremon- - La-Mo- ton. Mrs. Sleed (Eathel) Estep visited Mrs. Bea (Linney) Wakely at Malad Thursday. Sunday Mrs. Opal Welling attended a birthday dinner for Karleen Ramsdall and Curtis Brough at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Welling at Riverside. anniversary, Mrs. Kenny Adams and son, Kip, ol Bear River City Explorer day. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Thomas and sons of Brigham City visited Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Thomas Saturday. Thursday evening about 75 friends and relatives gathered at the Cultural Hall to honor Mr. and Mrs. E. Theodore Hoskins, retired postmasters. The hall had been decorated and a delicious supper enjoyed by the group. A program had been prepared to honor the couple with a medley of music, tributes, a fun game and a special musical number, "The Way We Were" and dancing finished the evening's fun. We do appreciate the service this couple has rendered our community for the past thirty-on- e years. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Reed Nielsen were Mrs. Dee Stevenson of Ogden and Mrs. Rhodes of East Garland. Dr. and Mrs. Max Conley s of Bountiful visited Dr. parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley Thursday. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall were happy when their daughter-in-law- , Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Hall and daughter, Sherry, of Cedar City came to visit them. They had been to USU where Sherry had participated in a musical competition of high school students. Sherry took first place honors in the vocal and the violin contests, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Morris of Garland brought their new baby back home Sunday where the proud lather gave her a name and a blessing. The little one received the name of Cort-niAmong those here to share the special event were Greg Lamb confirmed Wade J. Lamb a member of the church. Mrs. Jean Lamb attended ' a pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Jackie Andersen in Riverside Saturday in honor of Mrs. Guy (Kathy) Harris of Bothwell. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hess' sons, Gomer and Lowell, attended the baptism for Jay Hess, son of Mrs. Nanette ' Hess at Malad Saturday where Lowell baptized him. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jay i Hess and Gomer, Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Brent Stokes and family of Snowville and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Prince of Layton all attended the confirmation of Jay at Malad. Later they had dinner at the home of Mrs. Nanette Hess. ' Couples Attend By Lois City was an overnight guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall on Wednes- Boys won championship of Malad Stake Basketball tournaments in a playoff last Wednesday evening. They went to Region Thursday and won their first game in Preston, Idaho but were defeated Friday night. Under leadership of Coach Bud Knudsen, those participating in the sport were Wayne Allen, Clayton Knudsen, Burke Gibbs, Blaine Flint, Larry John, Mike John, Scott Nielsen, Randy Gibbs and Robert Gibbs. Several from our ward attended the ball games and enjoyed them. We are proud of our boys and congratulate them on their efforts. They were joined Sunday for dinner by Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Pierson and son, Eric of Fielding. Saturday Max Kunzler and Roy Kunzler of Park Valley visited Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Udy. Sunday visitors at the home of Mrs. Ethel Rudd were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Rudd and daughter, Tamra, and Mrs. Laurel Johnsen and daughter, Joanie, all of Layton. Later Dr. and Mrs. Blaine Pierson and family of Kaysville visited her. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Jim Estep attended a retirement party at the Portage Ward Cultural Hall for Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hoskins. Mrs. Hoskins had been post- master for thirty-thre- e years and her husband had assisted and had been acting postmaster since her retirement. Mrs. Wendell Hall conducted the entertainment and Chester Niel was master of ceremonies. A lovely silver tray was presented to them. Seventy-fiv- e guests attended. Mr, and Mrs. Lynn Petersen spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jed Lamb at Richmond and attended fast and testimony meetings at the Richmond Stake House with the Jed Lambs and Mr. and Mrs. Greg Lamb and children, Angela Dawn and Mindi Jo of Plymouth where Na-Ve- ll Con-ley'- e. Clearfield, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Thorson and girls of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Hupp and daughters of Hansel Valley, Vaughn Morris and friend, Mark Worthen, of Clearfield, and, of course, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Howell. The group were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Howell that afternoon. Sunday was a big day for Mr. and Mrs. LaDell Gibbs and family as they gave the family spiritual presentation Sunday morning. Then in sacrament meeting Mr. Gibbs confirmed his son, Todd, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Da- y Saints. Isn't wind-generate- d cheaper? electricity Assuming you live in an area where wind generation is feasible to begin with, electricity produced by a backyard windmill will cost more than 20 per kilowatt hour even under A optimum conditions. It can cost as much as $1 to $3 per kilowatt hour, according to a power engineer who has a pair of windmills in his own backyard. Utah Power currently charges about 3V2C per kilowatt hour on the average for residential power. Wind power possibilities? What about wind power on a larger scale? The electric utility industry is cooperating with the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration to help build and run demonstration wind generators.
