(Mildred) Harris will represent the Tremoflton Women's Civic League as clubwoman of the year. Mrs. Harris will be entered with candidates selected from other organizations of the Northern District of Utah Federation of Women's for Clubs in competition clubwoman of the year. A charter member of the Tremonton Women's Civic League, Mrs. Harris has been actively engaged in club work since 1940. She has served as president, treasurer, music director and reporter and secretary. corresponding She has also acted as chairman of several committees including Civic and Public Welfare, Programs, Youth and Education, and Social and finance. From 1968 to 1970 she held the position of treasurer to ? Northern District of T' . Federation of Women's Ciu)s. Her interest in community improvement has included in personal involvement support of the Red Cross Blood bank, US Savings Bond campaigns during World War II, volunteer service at the local hospital during the war, as well as numerous parades, floats and fund raising projects. She has been a member of the Simada Study Group and the Literary Guild since the early 1940's. As an active member of the LDS church, she has held many positions of responsibility. children and nine grandchildren. Each of the children graduated from Bear River high school, Bear River LDS Seminary and Utah State University. Her eldest daughter, Mrs. Jaleen Stauffer, is married to Dr. Norman E. Stauffer, a civil engineer, and makes her home in Bountiful, Utah. Mrs. Barbara Ann Bailey, who is married to Gary Bailey, a civil engineer, makes her home in Murray, Utah. Mrs. Claudia Johnston is married to Alvin Johnston, a school teacher. They .make their home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Claudia holds a master's degree . from Utah State University and teaches English on a basis. Robert L. part-tim- e Harris, an electrical engineer, is married to Mary Abel. He makes his home in Mountain View, California where he is employed. He is also attending Stanford University in the interest of receiving a master's degree. vice-preside- Mrs. Harris was born and raised in Salt Lake City, and was graduated from South high school and Henager's Business College. For three years she was employed by Mullett-Kell- y Company as a stenographer, bookkeeper and cashier. Her marriage to Leland R. Harris, who farms in the Bothwell area, brought her to Tremonton. She is the mother of four . . M Wedding Tom Shaw Will of the Installment Loan Department. He is a member of the AID (American Institute of Banking Assn.), and is on the board of directors of the -- Speak to Credit Women Tom Shaw will speak at the Credit Womans Association breakfast March 10. Shaw is a graduate of Bear River high school and LDS Seminary. He attended Utah State majoring in business. He worked at the Backyard while going to school pe worked for Blocks in Brigham for five years as assistant manager. He is presently employed with the Box Elder County Bank as assistant manager Mrs. Mildred Harris Mr. and Mrs. Niel H. d of Garland announce the marriage of their daughter LaRee to D. Rees May, son of Mrs. Liona May and the late Mr. F. Orlin May on March 6 1976 at the Bowcutt Reception Center. Following the wedding ceremony they will be honored at an Open House. He is married to the former LaNae Thomas of Portage and they have three children. These paintings are for sale and will be on exhibit until Friday, March 12. Anyone interested in seeing the display is welcome during school hours. There will be a special evening showing on Wednesday March 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. The display is free to the public. Lynn i The regional meeting of Business and Professional Women was held recently to honor the "business women of the year" chosen from each club. Mrs. Esther Harris represented the Golden Spike club. Each woman was presented with an identification bracelet from the district. They will also be honored at the state BPW convention in May.
