Show THE i 1 ': f 1 ' : S Wesey Be Ringers W'j 6, 1975, Page 5 Nuts $ ' ' For a unique musical experience area residents are invited to attend the holiday concert of the Wesley Bell Ringers, Saturday, November 29, at the Bear River high school auditorium, at 8 p.m. The Pell Ringers is a group of Christian young people from Salt Lake City which has traveled and performed before civic groups, schools, hospitals, government and state institutions, and before a variety of religious and charitable groups throughout the United States, in Canada and in Nova Scotia. Good Cook's Corner "My sister took homemaking all thru high school," he declared, "and she cannot make gravy. They teach all these fancy things...but not the basics." Cooking is only one of his many talents. When his illness forced him to spend long hours resting, he took up the art of Chef Eats he owns a complicated sewing machine on which he sews his own clothes, partly because he can't find clothes in his Self-taug- ht, He can also lay out a display of blankets, pillowcases, shirts, crocheting and other items that would make most would-b- e brides envious to have them for their trousseau. Besides sewing, he is skilled at oil paints and model ship building. He also dabbles in ceramics. One large multi-mastclipper is on display in the Anderson home. The model includes among other items, his sister's hairnet, pieces of a bed sheet for sails and pieces of many other models he once destroyed. Even though he is skilled at arts which are traditionally relagated to the female, he doesn't feel he needs to apologize for it. "Most of the people who know I do it admire it," he said. "And, Pm not ashamed of it... Everything I do Pm very proud of it." Ask him for a favorite recipe and he can rattle it off from memory. He uses only a scale to measure out ingredients when he " ' '' ' ,,!;' works. Pve always beetf'ffffcreaf6rVMi he added. He also has one other skill that of playing Santa Claus at Christmas time. "I started when I was 17," he recalled. He claims a Baptist friend next door had a suit and needed a Santa Claus. "And, I was willing to do anything for $5 back then," he said. That's the overriding philosophy of this week's good cook, Bill Duncombe, 25, a professional chef. Currently lead chef at the Cross Roads Coffee Shop, Bill notes proudly, "I'm fourth generation." For four generations members of his family have been active in the art of serving Bill claims he got started in the rest- aurant business at the age of nine frying , v started, "he explained, "was because grandfather stuck his hand in a deep fat fryer." As a result of the incident, Bill ended up standing on a stool using a stick to turn donuts over as they cooked. A graduate of Davis high in 1968, the young chef attended Maestro Chef school in Denver for 18 months to learn the fine techniques of his art. He ran his own restaurant in Ogden, employing seven people, which he termed just a that would seat 50 people. Even though he is a professional chef, Bill claims he is easy to satisfy. "I try to instill in people that just because Vm a chef doesn't mean I'm really individual serving.
