Both we 11 finished atop the league standings with a 9- -1 record to lead the teams Into the double elimination which begins tournament Friday night at the Dewey-vil- le Park. Bothwell got by Tremon-to- n First Ward, 6- -5 scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday nightto finish up the season. Terry Knudsen hit a homerun in a losing cause for First. Farlier in the week Both-w- ell beat out Second Ward, 5- -1 with a homer by Leon at the Payne, but fell 5hands of Tremonton Sixth, the second place team in the standings. Shortstop Dennis Green put one over the fence in that contest before Bothwell pitcher Calvin Bingham got things going in the later innings. All the teams will enter tournament play, but the winner, unless it happens to be Bothwell. will then have to play Bothwell for clear cut possession of the trophy-Here'- s the schedule for Friday's first round action: Deweyville vs Tre 3rd round action is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, but location has not been settled on. Play will continue Friday and Saturday, July 6. In a game that saw a lot of action, Deweyville and Elwood went at each other. The championship in the majors and minors will be decided July 24 in games played during Tremonton City's annual celebration at North Park. The Orioles are uncontested on the minor league side with the Angels and Reds with chances to fill out the championship bracket. The two teams with the best season records meet in each league. In major league action this week, the Tigers beat the Reds. Twins beat the Dodgers and Yanks and Giants play July 21 at 6 p.m. In minor league action, the Angels beat the Pirates, Orioles beat the Braves and Reds beat the Cardinals. In a makeup game, the Angels beat the Cardinals.
