It is not the intent of this article to advocate any ce;t lin salary scale, but the intent is to raise some issues and alternatives relative to salary matters. Som.' questions we cit iens and school staff alike need to think about are: (1) salaries of com parable professions be used as a guide? If so. which ones? Sony; of the nations' leading scholars have viewed the future and w hat is in store for us. All are not optimistic about man's future. Much will depend upon the American Educational System and the values we place upon our American way of life. We here at Park Valley School believe in "America and the (bright) Future of Man." We place a top priority on being responsible citizens, in upholding our democratic way of living and in obeying the laws of our land. Good citizenship and its philosophies are stressed at our school. We believe in allowing students to make many of their own decisions, to think for themselves, govern their own act- attending ions thereby and to do this without always being told what to do, or how, or where, or when to do it. Guidance is necessary of course, but too strict adherence to rules often brings negative results when the student is left to his own initiative. Awards are given at the close of the year to those outstanding in citizenship as well as those achieving academically. The lighlights of this school year include, first of all, the annual Track and Flay Here the four weat-er- n Day. schools meet in an atmosphere of friendly competition in track and field events. This is an opportunity also for fellowshipping, good sportsmanship, and a chance for students, teachers, PTA and the public to participate in an activity together. Other highlights of the year included a field trip to the State Capitol, where the older students were recognized by the State Legislature. Also swimming lessons, mostly after school hours, were a highlight for the younger students.
