Show Page 2, THE GARLAND LEADER-TH- E TIMES, April 25, 1974 Ere In Society Garland Club Hosts Local X J.' l 7 Civic Groups CIVIC LEAGUE The Tremonton Women's Civic League received a check for $50 this week from Sears Roebuck and Company and the National Federation of Women's Clubs. They were awarded the check for titeir two year Community Improvement lYojects. Tremonton Club Wins $50 Check Tremonton's Women's Civic league was awarded a $.')0 check Saturday during tle 52nd annual convention of the Northern District of the Itah Federation of Women's Clubs in Garland. The award was presented by. Sears Roebuck and Co. and tlx? General Federation of Women's Clubs for the local club's effort in the Improvement Community Program (CIP). I'resident Ialtene Napoli accepted the check from State President Fleet Mrs. Ilmer Klitgaard. The award granted for a two year community improvement project was to Tremonton's club for their efforts in helping reopen the Valley hospital. The club is now eligible to compete at the state convention for even further recognition and cash prizes. The state winner then competes on the national level. The local club was awarded $3.00(1 for third place two years ago for their efforts to create a Senior Citizen's Center. The money was later used to outfit a lounge at the Center. The league's effort was one of only eleven throughout the state which wag picked to be judged. State judges visited Tremonton three weeks ago to view the local club's efforts. ft K V. V Garland's Civic and Home Arts Club hosted the 52nd Annual Convention of the Northern District of the Itah of Women's Federation Clubs Saturday at the Garland Elementary school. The convention the me d "Reflections" brought together five clubs from Garland. Brigham City. Tre- LJ Trevelene Gubler and Rick Ramsdell Couple Will Wed In May Ceremony Dr. and Mrs. Donworth V. Gubler of Santaquin. Itah, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Trevelene to Rick D. Ramsdell. son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ramsdell of Garland. The couple will exchange wedding vows on May 2 in the Springville Museum of Art. A reception will honor them following the ceremony. On May 4, an open house at the Bowcutt Reception Center will honor the couple. Trevelene attended Springville and Payson high where she graduated. She has attended Snow College and is presently employed in Springville. Rich is a graduate of Bear River high school and has attended Snow College. He is presentlyemployed in Garland. Historian will be Mrs. Vernon Poulter of Brigham City. In a morning address, Mrs. Elmer Klitgaard. state presidentelect urged women's club members to put their church first, family second and civic work third. Mrs. Klitgaard told club members to become involved In city legislative activities and the educational process. Garland Mayor George Hales welcomed club members to the convention. Other activities during the morning session included the president's reports from the five club presidents outlin- monton, and Logan. Clubs attending in addition to the host Garland Club included the Women's Civic League of Tremonton; Logan Club. Ladies Federated Community Club of Brigham and the Civic Improvement Club of Brigham. Mrs. George D. Kelly, district president of Brigham City, presided over the convention. Highlight of the two session convention was the installation of officers at a luncheon meeting. Mrs. George (LaRene) Napoli will serve as district president. Mrs. Napoli is currently president of the Tremonton Women's Civic Club. Club Hears Storytelling is an "art" just like dancing and drama, according to Mrs. Barbara Hales, member of the teaching staff at Itah State University. Mrs. Hales was the guest speaker at the recent meetof the Tremonton ing Women's Civic league. The meeting held in the Senior Center was hosted by Mrs. Garland Puzey. President LaRene Napoli conducted. Mrs. Hales gave a "delightful" presentation on "Storytelling for Children." She demonstrated her talents in telling three or four stories to the group. Giving of yourself in story telling enlarges and enriches the lives of listeners, she She emphasized the said. importance of storytelling over the reading of stories. Mrs. Hales also gave lists of stories for different age groups and suggested ways to judge good literature for children. She also displayed many books which contain stories for young list- eners. .Vr' will be Mrs. Roy -- Two musical numbers were presented by Sharrie Le Fevre and Stephanie Stokes. They accompanied themselves on the guitar. Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the m?eting. Mrs. T. L.
