Then by placing the cardboard in the window we could control the amount of sunlight which would strike the thermometer. The thermometer registered We then placed 75 degees. the magnifying glass over the hole, and concentrated the rays of light onto- the bulb of the themometer. The tempera ture rose rapidly to over 100 degrees and we had to re move the thermometer irom the magnifying glass to keep it from breaking. This proved to us that as the rays of the sun are concentrated on a smaller area, they produce more heat. Our second experiment was to shine the light of a flashlight through a paper tube, first straight above the paper, then at an angle. We drew a circle around the area of light in each case and then cut out the areas. We found that the one that snmea at an angle was much larger, therefore the light rays were spread over a greater area. We have leaned that the earth is tilted on its axis about 23 degrees. It is due to this tilt and its revolution around the sun, that we have our seasons. It Is always summer near the equator. When it is fall in the Northern Hemisphere it is spring in the Southern Hemisphere, When it Is summer here, it Is winter in Argentina. We are happy we have the different seasons in the year, to give us a variety in weather, annrtii. work and even our t clothes. FREEZER WASHER AND DRYER you need!
