Additions Several sketches of proposed additions to the Bear River high school were presented to the members of the Box Elder county Board of Education at their Aug. 13 meeting by Architect Paul Evans. A committee was appointed to work with him in formulatbuilding plans for the proposed ing program. Kenneth E. Weight is chairman of the committee with Lamoin E. Cowley, Delbert E. Cook, Leon F. Christiansen, Eberhart Zundel, Frank Stevens, Kleon Kerr and Paul Evans as committee members. While Paul Evans was present he was asked to submit a contract to the board at their next regular meeting, covering his services as architect for the proposed addition to the Bear River high school. BEI1S Site Carroll B. Williams, real estate agent, met with the board and informed them of progress being made on the acquisition of a site for the proposed Box Elder high school. The? following committee was given the authority to prepare tentative plans for the proposed construction of the Box Elder high school for the final approval or rejection by the board: Kenneth E. Weight, chairman; Harold B. Felt. Warren E. Hansen, Leon Christiansen, Eberhart Zundel, E. W. Payne and Bob Hodgson, architect. Superintendent Weight presented a preliminary study of existing water course and canal on a proposed site of the high school as prepared by Keith Hansen, engineer. A survey is in progress on enrollment and placement of new students in the Brigham City schools, the superintendent reported. Confabs The following meetings have been scheduled prior to the opening of school on Sept. 2: principals meeting, Wednesday, Aug. 27; new teachers meeting, Thursday, Aug. 28; all school employees meeting. Pre-Scho- ol Ground Broken for First Home Ground was broken Wednesday afternoon for the construction of the first home in the Bessinger Addition at 6th North and 1st West. TJhe number one home is being built by Jess E. Garfield, local contractor. It will be a three bedroom brick veneer with full basement, and garage. Mr. Garfield plans to build three homes in this addition this fall. The homes are located in divisions V3 lots 9 and 10. and lot 4 in V2. Other contractors are expected to start construction t, 3; Hps-Hanse- n Fair Grounds The Box Elder County Fair Board has arranged for Dr. R. K. Hedelions to issue livestock health certificates at the County Fair Grounds. Tremonton. Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. There will be no charge for this service to all fair livestock entries. Manager LeRoy Bunnell encourages as many exhibitors as possible to take advantage of this service. Mrs e :' Four changes in the staff personnel at Bear River high school have been made for the coming school year with the appointment of Sherwood Brides, Garreth Larson, Nina and Myron Richards. Bridges is a recent graduate of Utah State University with a major in chemistry and a minor in photography. He replaces Ross Westover as chemistry teacher. Westover is attending Syracuse University, through a science scholarship. Instructing instrumental classes will bo Garreth Larson, former music instructor at Richfield high school. He replaces Dallin Nielson. recently appointed principal at Millard high school Food Instructor llomemaking, with emphasis on foods, will be taught by Mrs. Lindhardt also a recent graduate from tho Logan school. Rear River hu'h Lind-har- Aug. 25 is the date set for tryouts for the annual Farm Bureau talent show to be held in conjunction with the Box Elder county fair, Aug. 27. Tryouts will be conducted at the Bear River City LDS ward chapel at 6 p.m. Monday and all persons wishing to compete in the contest must be present. Contestants will be divided into two age groups. Those 18 years old will comprise! one division with the 18 to 28; year olds competing in another group. Members of the board unanimously agreed to sell to Dwain Lind two outside buildings, no longer required at the Junction school, for $10 with the stipulation that ground be leveled and debris removed.
