Show THE LEADER. m,m DEE LEAK AT Tremonlon, Utah Thursday September 1. 1955 muj'W'1'1' " mmmmmwmx Utah Banks Principal Lenders To States Farmers and Ranchers CAMP CARSON Dee O Leak is now located at Camp Carson. Colo., where he will receive He is military 1 " training. '- ; f' ' 4 a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Leak of Penrose. Utah farmers and ranchers met their credit needs during 1954 chiefly by loans from their local banks, according to Donald G. Stenquist, of First Security Bank, who represents the Utah Bankers Association as Box Elder County Key Banker. Utah banks remained the largest lenders to the state's farmers and stockmen during the year, providing far more financial aid than any to our agriculture other lending agency, he noted. Quoting from the fourteenth annual farm lending survey of the Agricultural Commission of the American Bankers Association, Mr. Stenquist stated that on January 1, 1955, Utah banks had loans outstanding to farmers and ranchers totaling $34,897,-00- 0 including both production and mortgage loans. This compares with a total of $9,123,000 held by the Federal Land Banks, the second largest lenders to Utah farmers. In addition, Utah banks held $5,632,000 in C.C.C. loans under the government's program not included in the above figures, "Despite reduced net income and continued high production expenses on farms," Mr. Stenquist said, "repayment of loans is rapid, and farm assets are at levels, indicating that these factors have not weakened the financial soundness of agriculture. Bank loans play an important part in maintaining this strong financial position by permitting our farmers and ranchers to make use of the latest equipment and modern production and marketing methods, resulting in greater efficiency, the majority of farm and ranch loans held by Utah banks and are for these production operating expenses." price-suppo- rt Sing At Conference The Portage and Cherry Creek Ward Choirs furnished the music for Stake conference at Malad Sunday.
