Guns In The Hands Of Children The Utah PTA Executive committee is extremely concerned over the number of our children who have been wounded or killed because they had access to guns in their homes. Every child in Utah is valued. We do not want to lose another child to a similar accident Our hearts ache for the parents of these children. We know that it was never their intention to have their child hurt in this fashion. All parents want what is best for their children. They want them to grow up to be safe, healthy, strong and happy. PTA believes that there "is no such thing as a safe gun in the hands of unsupervised children". Therefore, the Utah PTA urges all parents to take the necessary steps to ensure that guns in the homes, not be left where children have access to the guns; that all firearms be kept locked up; that All ammunibe kept in a separate place than where the guns are stored; that all firearms be stored without bullets in the firing chambers; and that all parents help their children to understand that guns are not a toy, but are a weapon. Parents, please go home and check the guns in your home to be certain that they are children. safe for your Remember, children are very curious and they do not understand the finality of death. Please, please talk with your children about the rules for gun safety in your home. Utah cannot afford to lose one more of our most valuable resource ... our children! tion The Reception will be held on March 9, 1996 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Formal invitations to the Reception were not sent out.
