The theme for the contest this year was "Let's Hear It For America." All the children in the Belknap Elementary School, grades participated. The winners were: 1st grades, Andrea Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Val Smith; Cherleen Burr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron tm 6 TODD BRADSHAW won state proficiency award for Agricultural sales and service at the State FFA Convention in Provo, Utah at BYU. Little League Fund Drive The youth sport program for Beaver Little League this year is expected to be the best ever. 90 youngsters participated in it last year and 90 or more are expected this year. Reunion The 204th Field Artillery Btn. held their reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 16, 17, and 18, 1982 at the Riviera Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Those attending from Beaver were: Paul and Afton Smith, Rue and Ann Swindlehurst, Bill and Irene Cox, King and Donna Morris, Ted and Billie Marlene Brasher, Sandi Ostler, Gail Harris, Lorraine Pender and Joyce Gale, chair persons; Mart and Vicki Hutchings; will meet on Thursday, April 22, 1982 to announce that $900 is needed for equipment and supplies. Beaver Little League plans to raise this money by taking orders for decorative and useful canisters. They will be offering three canisters; one filled with 20 oz. of popcorn, another filled with 13.5 oz. of assorted hard candy and one canister filled with 12.5 oz. of Nowers of Salt Lake, Buss and Rhoda Walker of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Branin of Salt Lake, King and Louree Stevens of Roy, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Patterson of Calif. By Ryan Yardley ' grandmother Lucille Rogers Barlow Murdock was born at the home of her grandparents in Logan, Utah My on April 26, 1919. Some of her favorite games were kick the can, run sheep run and hide and seek, during the summer and sleigh riding and table games during the winter. The family had a dog named Buck and a cat named Fluff. The dog used to protect the cat whenever something came around. They ate and slept together from the time they were little. My grandmother attended all of her schooling in the Cedar City Schools. After graduation from high school, she attended B.A.C. in Cedar City. She helped her mother a great deal at home and did a lot of baby sitting. Grandmother ran around with a group of 12 girls throughout her school years. In 1937 she met Chase Murdock after he returned from his mission to the central states. Two years later they were married in the Salt Lake Temple and spent their honeymoon in the eastern states and brought a bus back from Indiana. My grandfather drove the bus for 18 years and brought many children to school. They had four children Judith, Viriginia, Roger and Craig. My father is Roger. My grandmother has 10 grandsons and six granddaughters. My grandmother worked as a nurse's aid in the Iron County Hospital and as a clerk in the Mary Palmer Shop. She has lived in Beaver all of her married life. She lived in Tooele for 5 years where her father was the principal of the Elementary school. Chris Davis placed 1st in the 880 and also took 2nd in the mile. David Roberts placed 2nd in the two mile run and 4th in the one mile race. The Medley Relay team took 4th place.
