Show COMINS & GOINGS By VUd Seeing Ranger Christensen g last week at the brought some mighrty pleasant memories from the days when I was a girl It reminded me of the times "we spent at the Girl's Home in the Beaver Canyon and how nice Ranger Christensen was to us and the feeling of safety we all had just knowing he was at the Ranger Station just below us. The first trip I remember up there, the song, "It Ain't Gonna Rain No More, No More", was popular and we It sang it night and day. poured down almost all the while we were there but that didn't dampen our spirits. I remember, we went on an old hayrack wagon, and was It loaded! Since it was so mud. dy, we got off and walked every steep hill, and there's a lot of them. It took us all day to get from Minersville to there, but that first sight we had of that new home was so beautiful to our youthful eyes I couldn't begin to tell you the thrill we all felt. Even now when I see it it gives me a feeling of something very special. A few years ago we went up the old trail to look it over once again and with a little effort and fixing it could be the dream of every girl again. I have no idea why it was closed but it makes me sad that it is. The joy of hiking to Puffer Lake and other places of interest and then returning to a nice warm shelter in the evening; the fun of fixing dinner and all sitting down at the long table, the memory of the "pan candy" we all en- -' Home-Comin- joyed so much in the evening, the song fests and skits, the sport of making beds on the floor and the wonder of listening to the wind in the pines and the other night noises, are all things I shall never forget. Even after I grew up and moved to Beaver and had the other joy of accompanying girls up there as their leader, it held the same charm. It was so refreshing and beautiful, and the setting so perfect " Why can't something be done about getting it rejuvenated and useable again? Those are such wonderful experiences and every girl should have the opportunity of living for a few day in such a setting every year.
