BLACK & DECKER DRILL FOR ONLY 754 THREE-EIGHT- H derson Brick Company, also by the George Munford Brickmak-er- s. When Bob Nowers bought John Skinner property at South Creek he put the old excavations to use again, not for brick making but to serve as ponds or small reservoirs to store the water for his cattle. The Patterson brothers became professionals as brick -makers. Ralph Bohn, who worked wit hthem for many ummers also became an authority on the business. He has an old photograph of a brickyard and kiln built at South Creek by Austin Skinner. In the picture beside Mr. Skinner are Dennis Farns-wort- h (a relative of Dennis Farnsworth of Adamsville), Ralph Bohn, Ambrose McGarry and two unidentified men. The Patterson brothers made the brick for all inside walls of the Beaver East Ward Church (now the 2nd Ward Chapel). The outside walls are made of northern brick. Some of the home for which they furnished brick are: the Gus Fernley home, now belonging to Stan Tatter-sal- l, The Thomas Ward home, t, Hugh Cartwright, Thomas James W. Low, Nell Cartwright, Charles White, now owned by Henry Woods, the John Twitchell home at and others. At one time they set up a yard on the lot where George Rich is building his new home. Adam Patterson at that owned the place time. Several thousands of brick were made here from soil hauled by team and wagon from South Creek. Brick for the Belknap School was made from soil in the East Fields by C. P. Anderson, an outside contractor in 1909-1According to Mr. Patterson g beand Mr. Bohn, gan about the first of April and ended about the 4th of July. After that time the summer storms arrived and work was suspended for the season. "We put in some mighty long days during those months," said Horace. Though we had our camp set up at the brick yard, Jim and I would arise early and drive down to Devil Creek, 3 miles west of Beaver where we kept several milk cows. We did the milking, delivered it to the creamery, returned home and prepared for another long day at South Creek. In the late afternoon we would drive back to Devil Creek and do it all over again. By then we were ready for a hearty meal and a long sleep." Since those good old days brick making has been completely revolutionized. Modern machinery turns out many thousands each day.
