This allows eligible family members living in separate TRICARE regions to be covered by the same Prime benefits without being charged a separate family enrollment fee. Each family member's regional contractor must be notified when utilizing split enrollment, and a single person must be designated to pay the enrollment fees. Split enrollment doesn't apply to active duty families, who aren't required to pay enrollment fees, nor to former spouses, who are regarded as separate families under this pro by Marty Kesster k'CAKK I'rimt- enrollment is portable and can be trans-r- r d another TRICARE region, without members n to (iienroll and Ati'i. i; arly al! claims filing by Prime beneficiaries is lin'in.jU fi Portability means that TRICARK Prime benefits travel Aiih th- beneficiaries, vnth no lapse in coverage, if they rri'jv.- tu arioth- r TRICARK region. It Prime isn't available at the new location, beneficiaries may disenroll before moving, use TRICARE Standard or Extra while living in the new area, and reenroll in Prime at any time when they move to an area where Prime is available. Portability for retirees is more limited than for active duty family members. It allows retirees, their family members and former spouses to move twice in a year as long as the second move brings them back to their original - I ! !l - - gram. The Primary Care manager will file most health care service claims. The only time Prime beneficiaries may personally have to file a claim is when they are referred to a provider who doesn't accept assignment or who won't file a claim. In fact, under TRICARE Prime, beneficiaries file only about one percent of claims. Keratoconus is a degeneiation of the tissue in the outer most layer of the eye called the comea. The cornea is weakened and starts to bulge outward from the pressure exerted from Starting at Jingle I win mi ii ie eye. i ins ueyeneidiiuii uauaiiy starts in late teens or into the twenties, and is characterized by decreased vision JJI I (usually one eye being worse than the i other). At first, the person can be corrected well uy using yidsses or leyuidi tunidu lenses; then, if the condition worsens, the person is usually best corrected using gas permeable (hard) contact lenses. Many people ask if they will go blind from keratoconus? The answer is no because the affected area with keratoconus is only one part of the complex visual system. A better question is, will I be able to see well enough to perform my daily tasks? With the use of contact lenses, the person is in most cases able to read and drive, but not always with 2020 vision. In the worst case scenario, the person may have to have a corneal transplant to restore usable vision. At Mountain View Eye Center we use a computer-generate- d map of the front surface on a persons eye to follow the person's condition as ' well as in helping design the best contact lens solution. We are awaiting the newest keratoconus lens design early next year which promises better comfort to those who must use the gas permeable contact lenses. Our goal is to get the most usable vision with the most comfortably fitting contact lenses available. Bouquet 1 ! I .
