Although there are no state-wideven regional honors to show for their efforts in the WBBA, Babe Ruth or American Legion activities, the important thing is that a full summer of recreational activity has kept well over 100 of the community youths busy. The success of such programs depends directly upon the efforts of not one or two adult workers, but rather on a community-wid- e coordinated program that has required hours of unselfish devotion by many adults. To begin naming names would only result in the inadvertant omission of someone who has contributed a great deal of time and effort. There Is only one name that we would like to single out for special praise and that is Mrs. Lawrence (Vonda) Buckley. Mrs. Buckley, with no sons of her own, has taken on the difficult task the past three years of operating the concession stand for the WBBA games. With help from her daughters, husband and friends, night after night she is on the job throughout the summer. The importance of this activity is vital to the of the league. operation To Mrs. Buckley, the officers, managers, coaches and everyone else who has a hand in any small way in these baseball programs we can only say, "Well Done." g Labor Day spirit It seems as though it was only yesterday that our nation's schools let out for summer vacation, and families began summertime activities. But now the season's last three-daholiday is almost here, and Labor Day weekend youngsters will soon be returning to the classroom. The good times of the Labor Day weekend for all America marks a time of change. Suddenly the Fall season is upon us and the pace quickens. Family attention shifts from plans for play to preparation for work. Helper youngsters will soon be trading their water skis and swim fins for textbooks and pencils, and parents will be exchanging their camping gear and barbecue sets for a at renewed dedication to career or school be. should it the that's way least, In closing the book on summer, we all should reded icate ourselves to earning the fruits of labor and study by which we hope to be better able to provide for ourselves and loved ones while contributing to our country's This rededication should be the real significance of Labor Day. It should lend greater enjoyment as well as meaning to this season's last chance for a summer family y well-bein- outing.
