J lVs --"" iyy I "I REMEMBER" SV THE OLD TIMERS ' From Mrs. Eliza BuckUad, j Idaho Falls, Idaho: I remember sleighing parties, with straw packed in the bottom of wagon boxes which had been lifted to "bob sleds" . . . plenty of old fash-ioned quilts to spread over the straw and up the side of the box, with some left over for lap robes. The driver, in a big, long fur coat, usually sat on edge of the box up front. Each couple or group would .sit with their feet across the widih of the box, filling in each side as they were gathered from lioi'sc to house. We were a merry crowd, enjoy-lu- g the melodious tinkle of the sk-itj- bolls. A few of the bell strrnds could be heard for miles and often be identified by tone. Everyone took picnic lunches to the tchoolhouse where dancing, i or games were enjoyed, rhc.-- seemed to be no "cliques" ir "wallflowers." If a blizzard :.'!mc up, we waited until daylight to go home. Even now, after 50 years, my neart beats faster when I hear the tuning of a violin or the sound f sleigh bells when they are (sometimes) carried by Santa Claus at a Christmas party. The mystery cn this club is how did the Milwaukee club let this boy M.Daniel get away from them. The Braves are loaded with good ycur.g players on their farm clubs- in every 'Jhinig but ou.mcieie-rs- . laey rton t have too many of them, and unless I mirss my guess this boy 't too many years away from being a big leaguer. These are just the clubs we have seen. Tiie rest of the league will have seme interesting play-ers to watch, so if you can, give them a look. I am sure you will like what you see. Our high school team has been plugging along and they still have a dhanee to cop the pen-nant in their division. Haven't heard much about our Little League plans, but I know w'hen the time comers the kids will 'have their teams picked and will be ready to go. 'Bowling is still gcing strong and the Bingham .shooters are still copping their share of' the prize money. The next big one wM be the Ely, Nev., $1,000.00 !sweeper and the re will be a good delegation from Bingham shoot-ing for this one. Didn't know that cur to wn had so many golfeis as it has.
