Ray is stat ioned a t Camp Maxey, Texas, and is very fine except for a tiny bit of h omesickness! Brothers, Willard and Oren Jenk ins, arrived in Midvale just about the same time this week to visit their parents, Mr & Mrs W B J enkins. Willard came from Nation al City, Calif, and Oren from the navy Qase at San Diego. Both wer e dinner guests at the home of Mr & Mrs Kenneth Mounteer Tuesday n ight. Other guests were Mr & Mrs Aaron Jenkins, and Mr & Mrs W B Jenkins. Mrs Eddie Steele and her 2 children, Kathleen and Michael, are living in Midvale now after having spent the past 2 months in Salt Lake City. Young Dennis Morton celebrated his first birthday yesterday. 'Guess he's pretty proud of it too! Plenty of Parking Space. No Meters. MIDVALE. UTAH Friday, November 3, 1944 Page Eight Associated Grocers Assn. Mr & Mrs Arthur A Larson are visiting in California. First Lt Morrill Shepherd who has been stationed at. Puerto Rico with a quartermaster corps, has been transferred to Camp Ritchie, Md, for a course in foreign languages in preparation for duty in France. It was a coincidence in San Juan, Puerto Rico, when Morrill met an old acquaintance, Lt Col Alton H Saxer, in a clothing store. Mrs Saxer and Mrs Shepherd are very good friends, and graduated together from nurses training at the L D S hospital. Marva Beckstrom and Shirley McNamarra are both new active members of Alpha Delta Pi sorority at the U. Young Andy Hosmer celebrated his fourth birthday with a party Wednesday afternoon. Twelve guests were present, and Andy had the time of his liie. Capt Milt Rigby kept himself busy this week saying hello and goodbye to his old cronies in Midvale, and then promptly hurried back to Denver, Colo. Lt Leo Black is here for a few days visit from Camp Ritchie, Md, with his parents, Mr & Mrs Albert Black. There must be not a balance of power, but a community of power; not organized rivalries, but an organized common peace. -Woodrow Wilson Nelda Marchant arrived home this week from San Francisco to spend a few days with her parents, and announced to her friend.; that she is the new Mrs George Donga. Her husband is a Dutch merchant marine, and he is from Rotterdam, Holland. They were married in Seattle, Wash, last Thursday. Nelda is the daughter of Mr & Mrs A M Marchant. City Marshal Marcell Graham tells us that things were pretty quiet this Halloween. The only real vandalism besides soaping, was the stealing of the registration book for voting. It seems it just literally walked away, and we can't decide whether it wa'5 a Democrat or a Republican - or maybe neither one! - :~ Mrs John Hosmer entertained last week at the Alta club for Mr & Mrs Lawrence Crane, of Santa Rosa, Calif; Robert Crane of Palo Alto, Calif; Lt & Mrs W J Rata· kin, and Mr & Mrs John H Baty.
