An editorial in the Tribune of Thursday' s issue advocates spending every cent of the $1,000,000 state store liquor profits, if necessary, to extermina te the illicit liquor dealer ... stating that all the enforceme nt men required should be employed to stamp out this nefatious business . . . and not one cent of liquor profits passed onto state tl·easury funds until this has been done. In the opinion of this writer the expeditious plan would be to further decrease the selling price of state store liquor . . . thereby· reducing the opportunit y of the illicit trade for making a profit ... and at the san1e time use the diminished state profits to conduct an educational campaign to teach our citizens law observance and the danger of buying liquor from law violators who would of necessity be forced to adulterate their wares in order to make a profit. It would also be wise to keep the state dispensari es open 24hours daily if required to prevent the necessity of making purchases from spurious liquor merchants ... if the state is to be engaged in the traffic, certainly it should render a service that would disuade .p urchases from un-licensed dispensevs. The same money that is being used to pay stool pigeons to jeopardize their lives s~uething liquor dispensari es could be used to pay additional sales people to work added shifts where thera is no hazzard involved. And besides some of the enforceme nt methods being employed are as obnoxious to the law observing citizen as the practice of selling, running or manufactu ring illicit liquor. The simplest preventative treatment is to oil them more frequently with a light, penetrating lubricant. -D- Rug wear can be reduced considerable if the rug is kept clean. It is the grinding action of the dirt in it that causes the thteads of the rug to be cut. Periodic vacuum cleaning is the remedy. FINNEY OF THE FORCE Mr. and Mrs. Harvey A.
