Show October 15, 1998 Silo door suggestion earns $10,000 award The Innovative Development Through Employee Awareness Program paid $184,673 for 445 suggestions adopted Oct. 1, 1997 through Sept. 30, 1998. Hill's current adoption rate, based on submissions, is 51.15 percent. The current submission rate is 10.60 percent. The Air Force saved $21,168,290 by adopting these suggestions by employees. Federal Employees Retirement System Counselors providing answers to retirement questions systems for various stages of your career and income by Gaylene Brown Entitlements and Benefits level. For employees who select FERS, their years of service performed prior to the election will follow Civil Service Retirement System rules for all purposes including annuity computation. If a CSRS Offset employee elects FERS the CSRS Offset time will be treated as FERS. Employees who elect FERS must complete SF 3109, sign the form and turn it in to Ogden ALC Civilian Personnel Division, Bldg. 1245, Room 12. This form is available from organization points of contact or online at the OPM website. If applicable, a FERS beneficiary form will also be needed because a Civil Service Retirement System form will no longer be applicable. The change to FERS is effective the pay period after submitting the Employees who elect FERS may begin, or change, their Thrift Savings Plan contributions anytime within 30 days after the effective date of the FERS election. Other factors, such as eligibility, survivor elections and disability, will follow FERS rules since the employee will retire as a FERS employee. Employees are encouraged to request their Personal Earnings and Benefits Statement, in advance of accessing the transfer module, from the Social Security Administration either by mail or using the SSA web site e at "www.ssa.gov." This is an important piece of information when making a decision to switch to FERS. Employees are encouraged to use the transfer model and carefully consider what plan is in their best interest In the final analysis., it is up to each individual to decide if a change should be made. Although the open season lasts until Dec. 31, 1998, employees shouldn't delay filing the forms if they wish to change retirement programs. A grace period is not allowed and late applications cannot be processed.
