For example, music that may be pleasing to one person may be noise to another. There are different levels of noise, nuisance and hazardous. Noise is measured in decibels. Normal speaking is measured at 60 decibels. If you are exposed to 85 decibels or higher, over an eight-hou- r time weighted average, you are exposed to hazardous noise. If you are protecting yourself propd hearerly, you can avoid ing loss. d hearing loss can occur when a person is continuously exposed to high levels of noise without proper protection, such as earplugs.
