Experts such as Willard Tate in his book "Learning to Love." and Stephen Covey in "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." suggest that the key to life is the ability to establish and maintain relationships. Difficulties in maintaining relationships occur because of differences in life styles, goals, beliefs, priorities and experiences. Unresolved, these difficulties prevent relationships from occurring; those relationships that are built on difficulties will exist only by unhealthy means. Memory Improvement by Jean Weinberger Creekside Home Health Care Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you were in there? Have you forgotten the name of a person you have known for years? Have you thought you were losing your mind and your memory? A class in memory techniques, "Is Today Thursday or Friday?" will be taught April 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Discussion includes long- - and short-termemory, the three R's of memory and memory improvement. One area of discussion includes how and under what conditions a fact is stored. Improved methods of recording and retaining information will be presented. It begins with "me changing me" to become a better spouse, parent, employee or friend. Second is learning to identify opportunities to build new relationships and maintaining the old ones solving Children can gain experiences in moving, but not without emotional support to help them understand and manage the stresses they might encounter. A workshop to make the move for children and teens easier will be held April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m., by the Family Support Center and the Youth Center. "A Smooth Move" for teens and kids is also held monthly at the Youth Center. Parents need to understand that reactions to moving will vary according to the age of the children. Continued on page 17 |
