Show 20 Hilltop Times Aug. 26, 1993 Teams capture Softball titles Two Hill teams captured titles in two tournaments that are held for teams that don't qualify for the "big one" in intramural softball, the championship tourney with the top eight teams from the intramural league. The competition included the Stuck in the Middle Tournament, for teams that did not have a good enough record to qualify for the top eight, but were not bad enough to play in the Best of the Worst Tournament. The 649th Medical Group captured the Stuck in the Middle title from the 388th Maintenance Squad-ronAGin a battle of the blazing sticks. The 388th team, last year's Best of the Worst champion, battled back from the losers' bracket to contest for the championship with the Meds. MSAGE captured the first game to bring the clash to one final game. The Meds jumped to a quick 1 lead in the first inning and by the end of the third inning, had extended the lead to a comfortable 12-But MSAGE clawed its way back and by the seventh inning, they , were within one run. However, the Meds prevailed and captured the championship by a score of 23-1649th MG was coached by Debra Newton and Matt Wason and MSAGE was coached by Robert Tishler. The 649th Support Group captured this year's Best of the Worst title with wins over 649th Civil Engineering Squadron-C- , Hangar Rats, and two wins over 388th MSEWS for the title. According to team manager, Dale McCann, Abbott's teammates, who are former Southern Utah State and Dixie College baseball standouts, say the pitcher's presence on the off-bas- e. six-gam- . The Hess Fitness Center has opened a small resale operation with convenience items for its customers. "Our goal is to provide the best customer service available," said Jim Dicus, fitness center director. "If we can't offer items through equipment issue, then the resale may meet your personal needs." Items available are racquetball accessories, aquatic supplies and materials, weight training equipment and beverages.
