The 388th Fighter Wing hosted a visit that allowed Hill parts buyers to see where everything they buy is installed on an 6 aircraft. F-1- by TSgt. Darla J. Ernst 388th Fighter Wing Public Affairs It was a case of East meeting West when 1 1 members of the Ogden Air Logistics Center's 6 Customer Support Section toured part of the 388th Fighter Wing July 19. The tour gave the attendees an look at the end result of their work. Their jobs involve from workmanaging parts for the 6 aircraft to MICAP technical orders with the (mission ing capability) parts, managing items to program analysis; even the unit's secretary came along. Although some of they work daily with parts for the them had never even been close to a jet, according to Maj. Patricia Ridgway, chief of the customer support section. "This is great," she said during the tour. "Now, when we talk about a part, they can put a picture with it." Maj. Rick Seitz, 34th Fighter Squadron maintenance officer, and CMSgt. Mike Downey, 34th FS maintenance superintendent, served as hosts for the tour. "This is where the rubber meets the road," Seitz told the group before taking them to the flight line to watch some aircraft launches. This gave the visitors a chance to see a lot of the parts they manage actually installed on an aircraft. You actually see the items and it really helps." The tour not only benefited the ALC folks, but the 388th as well. It gave both sides the chance to exchange information and to set up points of contact for the future. Seitz probably said it best when he told the group in closing, "If it helps you do your job better, it will eventually help us do ours better."
