Show May 28, 1992 Hats off have a comment about the article you in the paper about no hats in the lot of the child care center. I just parking wanted to let you know that according to a Hill AFB Supplement (dated Nov. 27, 1989) to Air Force Regulation 35-1Bldg. 470 is an no hat wear area. optional I t2X had 0, M You are absolutely correct. AFR ALC-HAF- B Supplement 1, Attachment 2, states that the. child care center entrance and parking lot are optional headgear areas. The option was included in the supplement for parents carrying small children, diaper bags, clothing, etc., where the wearing of headgear was extremely difficult. Sorry for the riser Early Before the ur ur Although I can sympathize with the adjustment that your biological clock makes when we either go on or off Daylight Savings Time, in reality, the number of hours in a day has not increased or decreased. Grounds watering is now conducted at night and into the early morning hours. It is unfortunate to have spinklers on when it is raining; however, Hill AFB has many automatic sprinkler systems and only one individual assigned during the summer months to operate, repair and maintain the timers which activate the systems. The timers are commercial-typsystems, more complicated than those you would buy for your home, and should not be operated by anyone other than a qualified technician. We are modifying our sprinkler timing, adding more conservative sprinkler heads and shortening watering durations to conserve water. Because the weather is difficult to precisely predict, however, it is virtually impossible to modify our watering efforts around natural away Watering People private communities are being in e asked to conserve water, but I don't see too much conservation, here on base. In both the east and west areas I see them watering the same areas for two and three hours at a time every day, even when it's raining. They also are watering during the hottest time of the day. Can't they turn the water on early in the morning or late at night, and turn it off when it rains, in order to help with the conservation of our water statewide? h mm n a ma mm i iUAHfiN tiK ik (non-housin- mm mk. tiiwEZi i Your comments are right on track. vation, not just of water, but all our precious resources should be of keen interest to everyone. Hill AFB is taking a proactive stance on water conservation. We have consulted with an expert from Weber Basin Water Conservancy District in an effort to develop a set of best water management practices. One of Weber Basin's recommendations is to water only between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. The vast majority of the base's lawn watering occurs between midnight and 10 a.m. This allows military family housing residents time during the evening to water without placing an 'extreme burden on water lost due to evaporation when. compared to daytime watering. During the last few weeks, you saw a significant amount of daytime watering. This is because the Weber Basin secondary water system was only turned on April 15. It takes several weeks to pressure test the lines, repair broken pipes or sprinkler heads, and set the automatic controls to operate the sprinklers at the proper times.
