Show 20 Hilltop Times PROFILE OF A WARRIOR May 11, 1990. t by Donna Brown Hilltop Times staff writer When she started working at Hill AFB, women didn't wear slacks. didn't talk above a work and whisper during supervisors made sure of Co-worke- rs it.' ago I was quite a bit younger, and when vou're vmincr vnil don't alwavs sa fch hiir Charlotte Kenney, of the Directorate of Materiel Management, said. Mrs. Kenney started her career at Hill as a sup"Twenty-year- s nic-ture- ," ply clerk-typis- t. Over the years she has seen many changes in herself and the base. Hill operations have made leaps and bounds in the world of technology and management. Mrs. Kenney's career has moved forward too. Today she is chief of the technical order distribution section in the directorate's support division. She says both she and the government are a little older now, and a little wiser. "Things are more relaxed. We work just as hard in some cases we have double the workload but people feel pride in their work because they are trusted," she said. "People are given a task or responsi bility and supervisors know their people know when things need to be done." Mrs. Kenney's organization sees to the printing, filing and distribution of technical orders for many major aircrafts worldwide. "There's not a job here that I haven't accomexplished and literally sat down for hands-o- n need when said. she know "I my people perience," help and I wouldn't have it any other way. I get out there and help them." She said without the proper technical orders, airplanes can be literally grounded and equipment shut down. "It's like buying a new washing machine without the owner's manual," she said. When Mrs. Kenney isn't seeing to it that pilots and technicians have the information they need to keep the Air Force flying, she quilts, sews, hunts, fishes and plays grandma to her little grandchildren, whom she said she thoroughly enjoys. s r ' ill u'I: - 'mnr' lJ I ; U.S. Air Force Photo by Donna Brown A little wiser worker at Hill AFB, Charlotte Kenney, a and the she government are a little older and says 20-ye- ar wiser since she first started. & GUARANTEED 3M CXPHIIS Musi itnHt 2. prtsvnt ad at 01 MAY 1 -- 1HO C cylindwr add tS, 8 cylinder add tlO. 12 months or 12,000 mass minwalaa 10 r:M,Special Air Cond. ,2ir:rj?
